One of the realities of being a sheriff’s deputy is hearing and witnessing an innocent citizen’s aftermath following a crime. Whether it’s a robbery, an assault, or vandalism, there are laws that protect the victims of crime, but also laws on our books that seemingly protect the perpetrator.
